Move over, gowns: Shoes got a moment in the spotlight Tuesday night in New York as Footwear News celebrated its 26th annual Achievement Awards at the Museum of Modern Art.
Stars like Fergie and Miranda Kerr were on hand to toast some of the footwear industry’s biggest names, including celeb favorites Charlotte Olympia (designer of the year), Rebecca Minkoff (marketer of the year), Tabitha Simmons (style influencer honoree), Sam Edelman (brand of the year) and retailers Macy’s and Foot Locker.
But the biggest moment of the night came when Stuart Weitzman was honored with the lifetime achievement award, presented by none other than Beyoncé.
Though Queen B wasn’t present for the event, she did send along a taped message for Weitzman, calling out his kindness, warmth and passion for his craft.
“I have always admired his work and the comfort of his heels,” she said. “After countless tours and TV performances and special concerts, I have literally danced 1,000 miles in his beautiful shoes. From stage to red carpet to everyday wear, he has added comfort and style not only to my lifestyle, but to many women around the world.” Hear more from Beyoncé in the clip below.
